Art meets metal and fire everyday at Corrina Sephora’s one-of-a-kind metallurgy studio. Now you can experience the magic of metalwork firsthand, through our new metalsmith classes.
was introduced to metalwork in her father’s boat building workshop as a little girl of five. After witnessing her dad weld a piece of metal – a process she described as ‘electric lightning’ – she knew she was destined to be an artist. Her fascination with the process of burning, soldering, and bending metal into completely new creations never left her, and eventually manifested itself into an illustrious career of crafting unique, larger than life metallic sculptures and art installments. The only thing competing with Sephora’s passion for her art, his her enthusiasm for sharing her unique process with others. After spending some time teaching as a university professor, she decided to take the classroom into her own studio at the Goat Farm property on the Westside of Atlanta and start offering intimate classes of her own.
In the INTRODUCTION TO WELDING class, you will learn the introductory skills needed to weld! You will be given pieces of pre-cut angle iron, and then you'll learn to weld them together using the OXY ACETALYN WELDER, as well as the MIG WELDER. The skills you will gain are a building block for any other welding. You will leave that night with your very own cell phone or tablet holder!
In the FORGED KITCHEN TOOLS class, you will learn the basics of blacksmithing, including forging steel and manipulating hot metal. The results of your labors will be a handmade, beautiful and useful kitchen tool., and or a letter opener! Use the tool to open oysters, decorate a charcuterie tray, or to spread dips. This kitchen tool also functions as a great letter opener and makes a great gift!
Sign up for the FORGED LEAD MAKING class and create a forged steel leaf, maybe even two or three... that will last a lifetime (and beyond)! a fun class for a beginner or someone who wants to refine their hammering skills.
Take the FORGED BOTTLE OPENER class! You will learn how to hot forge steel and forge your way into the ancient blacksmithing techniques.
When the tutorial is over and your metal do-dads are completed, your group of newly inaugurated metallic artists will be invited to partake in a cocktail party on the beautiful Goat Farm property, where you can enjoy a complimentary beer! We recommend using this time as a chance to pick Corrina’s brain about her dynamic history as a metalworker and artist. In a career spanning several states and multiple decades, she’s certainly accumulated her share of interesting stories, like when she took a job at an industrial factory where she was the first female welder in the company’s history. This class is for all appreciators of handmade craftsmanship and anyone who thinks that art should be fun. Whether you’re an artist hoping to explore a new medium or an average Joe searching for a unique art experience, a couple hours of hammering, stamping, bending, drinking, and socializing at Corrina Sephora’s quaint Goat Farm studio will have you totally on board with the metallurgy train.
